The Significance of Saving Tonex
Tonex is a critically endangered species of freshwater fish discovered solely within the higher Tennessee River basin. The species has been in decline for many years on account of habitat loss, air pollution, and overfishing. In consequence, Tonex is now listed as endangered beneath the Endangered Species Act.
